Kiamba Valley Farmhouse

Sunshine Coast, QLD

Project Type: Residential
Year: 2024

Photographer: Andy Macpherson

Responding to the traditional Queensland farmhouse vernacular, Kiamba Farmhouse is expressed as a series of pavilion-style forms that sit gently within the landscape, drawing on the site’s history of cattle farming and celebrating authentic materials and craftsmanship. The balance of traditional and contemporary influence results in a home that thoughtfully considers both people and place, creating a grounded, lived-in quality throughout.

Our design team worked closely with Aspect Architecture to supply a considered lighting selection that complements the home’s warm material palette and layered architectural approach, enhancing texture, atmosphere, and spatial depth across both interior and exterior spaces.

Cascina Wall Light by Il Fanale – The Cascina Wall Light, used both indoor and outdoor, provides a soft, architectural glow that enhances the farmhouse’s timber and masonry elements. Its rustic, weathered finish complements the rural material palette, while offering subtle illumination that enriches the building’s presence at night.

Galileo Pendant by Il Fanale – Positioned above the kitchen island, the Galileo Pendant introduces a refined, industrial-inspired focal point within the heart of the home. Defined by its half-sphere form, it casts a warm, diffused light that enhances the kitchen’s tactile materiality, creating a sense of warmth and intimacy within the open-plan space.

Dero by LLD – Positioned to wash light up onto the raked ceilings, the Dero fitting highlights its form and enhances the warmth and texture of the timber surfaces. Its minimal profile keeps the focus on the architecture, allowing the wooden canopy to softly glow and come alive at night.
