Arakawa Japanese Restaurant

Gold Coast, Queensland

Project Type: Hospitality
Year: 2025
Interiors: Miro and Brookes

Arakawa, meaning ‘wild river’, offers a seamless blend of tradition and innovation at RACV Royal Pines Resort. This modern Japanese restaurant invites guests into an immersive setting where refined craftsmanship meets the ambient glow of the Gold Coast. Illuminated murals, soft shadows, and carefully lit plating combine to create a dining experience where atmosphere is just as important as flavour.

Artisan Highlights
Arakawa places a strong emphasis on authenticity and handcrafted artistry. This artisan approach extends to the interior design, where bespoke fittings incorporate handmade ceramic elements. The Bubble Deep Dish pendants and wall lights, finished in matte black glazed stoneware, echo the tactile beauty of traditional Japanese design. When paired with diffused warm light, these features enrich the overall atmosphere and reinforce the restaurant’s craft-focused identity.

Layered Lighting Design
Arakawa is a standout example of how thoughtful, layered lighting can elevate comfort and mood. Feature pendants cast a warm, diffused glow over communal tables, fostering intimacy and connection. Uplights provide gentle, indirect illumination along the walls, maintaining balanced light levels without glare. Downlights deliver focused lighting to tables of two, softened by Bubble Wall lights to enhance visual comfort and warmth.
Throughout the space, a harmonious blend of pendants, uplights, downlights, and LED strip lighting ensures both ambient and accent lighting are perfectly balanced.

Elegant yet approachable, Arakawa is suited to every occasion — from casual meals to special celebrations — all brought to life through its masterfully lit, inviting design.
