Raby Bay was an all-inclusive residential lighting design which incorporated the highlighting of natural elements with a distinctly resort-like feel, while simultaneously creating an inviting and relaxed atmosphere. The pendants chosen for this project were all soft feature pieces from suppliers like Vistosi and the George Nelson Bubble lamp range, while others were pieces sourced externally by the client. For general indoor lighting, Lumen8’s Solis downlight range was used; while joinery feature lighting, and living room/theatre cove lighting was achieved using Lumen8’s Logikline range of strip LED and aluminium profile. The kitchen bench task lighting was created using Halla's Lumia linear system profile. For the general outdoor lighting design, various products were used to highlight textures, light garden space and accentuate vertical column space; while the general lighting in patio areas was taken care of by the use of IP rated outdoor ceiling mounted lights. The Utah up/down light was used in the exterior foyer area to create a defined lighting effect, while highlighting the texture of the hand cut stone wall. In the garden areas, Lumascape Spike lights were used to up-light trees and plants. To accentuate column space, PUK Hydroled up/down wall lights were utilized; and general patio lighting was achieved using Moby outdoor ceiling mounted luminaires. N.B. Majority of lighting elements executed by Lumen8 Architectural lighting. Some pendants, pool lighting elements etc were not the work of Lumen8.
