The design for BAPS was a cross collaboration with Lumen8 and Base Architecture. With the entire design, there was an emphasis placed on indirect lighting, as it is considered to be healthier physiologically (for the eye) and psychologically (the feeling, comfort and ambience of the space). Another major factor in consideration of the fittings used, was the need to highlight the highly unique curvature of the space. Lumen8's own Logikline LED profiles were hidden in the contours of the walls and joinery to wash lighting up into the ceilings, and down onto the floor. This created the majority of the washy, gentle light in the space. 3000k LED tape was used to ensure that it felt warm and inviting, and less like the foyer of a surgery. Krypton downlights were utilised for their gimbled versatility, their warm 3000k colour temperature, and their CRI of 80+ make the space feel rich and warm. The Rundo Oval pendants were selected for the simple fact that their body resembles the arcs in the walls and joinery, and they also provide a high quality, direct/indirect light.
